Andrea M. Smith-Brooks, DNP, CRNP, FNP-BC

Dr. Andrea Smith-Brooks received her Doctor of Nursing Practice and Master of Science degrees from University of Maryland School of Nursing in Baltimore, Maryland. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Andrea has over 10 years of experience in emergency health care including emergency department and urgent care settings. 

Dr. Smith-Brooks currently works as the Clinical Program Manager for Nurse Practitioner Emergency Services at University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC); including the Emergency Department, Urgent Care, and Psych Emergency Services. Andrea maintains clinical practice in UMMC’s Adult Emergency Department.

Dr. Smith-Brooks has taught clinical classes as an adjunct professor for University of Maryland School of Nursing’s MSN programs. Andrea has precepted nurse practitioner students from various nursing schools in the Maryland-DC-Pennsylvania area. Additionally, Dr. Smith serves as a mentor for students pursuing the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree. Her scholarly interests include process improvement methodologies and interdisciplinary team training. Andrea is a certified TeamSTEPPS master trainer and lean six sigma green belt. She has lectured nationally on various clinical, educational and professional topics.
